The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence

We are excited to throw this weeklong celebration and continue raising funds for The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® – a longstanding LGBTQIA+ charitable organization whose roots in San Francisco go back to 1979, and now have chapters worldwide.

The Sisters put the funds they raise towards supporting local organizations and projects that provide direct services to under-served and embattled communities. Following their vows to "expiate stigmatic guilt and promulgate universal joy," they use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit. As Martini Week™ is expanding to more cities, so is our support for The Sisters! Funds raised this year will go towards the following regional chapters: The Mother House in San Francisco, The Capitol City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc., The Order of the Flaming Sugarbakers, The Abbey of the Windy City Sisters, The Boston Sisters - Convent of the Commonwealth, The NYC (dis)Order, and Music City Sisters.

We are a worldwide order of 21st-Century nuns dedicated to the promulgation of universal joy and the expiation of stigmatic guilt. The core mission and commitment to our philosophy requires the ability to work with people, and the desire to learn and grow. We are, first and foremost, nuns … gay nuns. We serve our community with faith and without judgment. We seek to uplift each person’s spirit. We even take vows; usually vows of iniquity. Men and women from across the spectrum of the LGBT community join together, first as a Mission and then as independent houses of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, to celebrate our gay identity in the unique manner in which we minister to the community.

BAGLY

The Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth (BAGLY) was formed in 1980 and is a youth-led, adult-supported organization committed to social justice, and creating, sustaining and advocating for programs, policies and services for the LGBTQ+ youth community.

BAGLY believes in a world that is more equitable and safe for LGBTQ+ youth and prioritizes the needs of LGBTQ+ youth of color, trans and gender non-conforming youth, and homeless LGBTQ+ youth.

The Boston Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence – Convent of the Commonwealth

We, The Boston Sisters, are an areligious Order of Queer, Clown Nuns who pledge ourselves to promulgate Universal Joy and to eliminate Stigmatic Guilt. We also pledge to serve our Community, our Fellow Sisters, and the Ministry of Perpetual Indulgence. We do this through our five tenets of Ministry, Activism, Education, Entertainment, and Service.

We are a modern Order of Nuns. We are a philosophical order, not a religious one. We welcome all to help us do good works regardless of their gender associations, spiritual affiliations, or proclivities. You may be male, female, transgender, gender non-binary, or intersex. You may be straight, gay/lesbian, bisexual, queer, or questioning. You may prefer wearing suits or dresses, leather or lace, or nothing at all. The five aspects of our Practice include Ministry, Activism, Education, Entertainment, and Service. We believe that people should be encouraged to live their lives in any way that brings them the most amount of satisfaction and joy, without guilt or shame, so long as they do harm to no one. This underlying philosophical tradition of pure non-judgmentalism informs every aspect of our Practice.

PrideArts is Chicago's premier LGBTQ theatre company that provides a safe environment for queer artists and allies to enhance, explore and experiment their artistic endeavors. For over a decade, we have produced countless diverse shows that championed queer issues. In the hopes of creating an experience for our audience, we strive to introduce and preserve queer history, thereby bridging the gap between the past, present and future generations of the LGBTQ community.

GSAFE increases the capacity of LGBTQ youth and students, educational staff, and families to create school environments where all LGBTQ youth and students thrive.

Who They Are
The Music City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence comprise a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization committed to supporting, educating, and fostering the growth of their community. Originating in 1979, the mother house in San Francisco articulated their mission as, "An order of nuns devoted to spreading universal joy and alleviating societal guilt. Our ministry emphasizes public representation and ongoing action. No more guilt!" This fundamental principle, aiming to bring joy to joyless places and alleviate the burdens of guilt that hinder self-expression, catalyzed a worldwide movement.

What They Do
They continue a 45-year legacy by upholding their mission in Middle Tennessee. Their activities involve educating local communities about critical health, safety, and societal issues. Through consistent visibility and active engagement, they advocate for the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals to embrace their identities. Collaborating with various local entities, they strive to enrich the lives of LGBTQ+ Tennesseans—all while embodying a spirit of fabulousness.
